Stelling

Intro

‘Stelling’ is a scaffolding construction on which the public is invited to listen to a radio play via an individual safety helmet with built-in headphones. ‘A man left his house one day’ is a 15-minute audio work by Comp.Marius, based on texts by the Russian dissident writer Daniil Charms (1905-1942).

It’s a compilation of: 'Falling Women', 'Optical Illusion', 'How a Man Fell Apart', 'Autobiographical Material' and 'A Man Left his House One Day'.

Charms views the world from a different perspective. Atypical and contrary. With a musical radio play in the helmet, the listener makes an auditory trip to solitary heights in the universe of Charms.

In ‘A man left his house one day’ the substantive statement as statement (‘stelling’ in Dutch) according to Daniil Charms, is: 'everything that is extreme is very difficult to establish. It is much easier to make things of mediocrity.'
