ONCE
Intro
Comp. Marius shares a long history with actor Herwig Ilegems. They previously created the plays ‘Republiek der dromen’ (‘Republic of Dreams’), ‘De Sunshine Boys’ and ‘Anatole’ together, and he performed in some of the company’s repertoire as a substitute as well as in six performances that Comp. Marius created with theatre maker and writer Jan Decorte. Now he creates ‘Once’ with his daughter, the dancer Kika, under the Comp. Marius flag.
In a timeless, poetic world of imagination, both set out in search of their shared sense of beauty, vulnerability, and humour. In three episodes, they set to work with objects and costumes by visual artist Dirk Hendrikx. This winged duet brings a simple story of belonging and loneliness, of regress and growth. Father and daughter share a bond that shines through this performance. An encounter where the intuitive finds comfort.
